Of course the most important aspect of deep fitted sheets is that they fit your larger than average mattress snuggly but this is not the only aspect and certainly not the only thing that you should consider if you want to get the most out of your purchase. First off, we have got the thread count. Many people are familiar with this international metric for measuring the overall quality of the weave used. The higher the thread count of your deep fitted sheets, the more comfortable they will be. Though there are a number of different weaves that can be chosen, my research has uncovered that the most comfortable are generally the flannel, percale or sateen variety.
As well as thread count, there is of course the matter of the fiber used. Like the regular variety of sheets, you have a lot of choices when it comes to fibers and unlike thread count, which is the best for you has a lot to do with personal preference. The most popular types of deep fitted sheets come made from a combination of both polyester and cotton. The advantage of combining these fibers is that you are left with deep fitted sheets that offer the advantages of both in that they tend not to wrinkle that much but also come at pretty affordable prices.
After you have considered both the thread count and the fabric used in your new fitted bed sheets, there is then the matter of finishing. Fitted bed sheets and all sheets for that matter can be improved via two types of finishing, both of which greatly improve the overall quality and strength of the sheets. The first type of finishing is known as singeing and this involves simply burning the type of fuzz that builds up during the manufacturing process. Overtime, this can get very irritating and such fuzz is a common sign of poor quality sheets. The second type of finishing is known as mercerizing which involves conducting tension in the sheet once it has been manufactured. This makes the fabric far longer lasting and though fitted bed sheets that have this type of finishing tend to cost a little more, they also tend to last a lot longer.
There is then the matter of aesthetics to consider when on the look out for deep fitted sheets. And though my no means as important as the comfort side when it comes to any form of bedding, deep fitted sheets come in a range of aesthetically delightful flavors and as such you can ensure they truly bring improve the overall look of your bed and bedroom. My existing furnishings rendered my best option to simply be the black variety but there are an endless array of choices and the key to choosing the right one is to always consider how well they will blend with the existing look of your room. Just because they look nice on Amazon that does not mean they will look nice in your bedroom!
The last feature to consider when it comes to deep fitted sheets is elastic. Many deep fitted sheets come with built in elastic all along their outer edges. Such elastic makes both making the bed a whole lot easier and makes it virtually impossible for the sheets to come undone during the course of the night.
